Presently, Szeged’s innovative district heating system benefits over 28,000 residences, 400+ commercial establishments, and numerous public buildings and facilities (University buildings, schools, hospitals, medical centres, law courts, leisure centres, etc).
Ventosus has not only re-designed and re-engineered the aging heating systems, but Ventosus is the obvious provider to design new connections to the district heating as the main source of heating for multiple new developments, as well as retrofitting updated heating systems in numerous existing buildings within Szeged. Naturally, Ventosus also designs the cooling, air conditioning and plumbing systems too.
As Ventosus’ team persistently work collaboratively towards enhancing efficiency; the tally of buildings and developments connecting to Szeged’s network is steadily growing, facilitating the expansion of the system to encompass a broader array of buildings, services, and consumers. The greater the number of buildings being added to Szeged’s district heating system the great the benefits and efficiencies that are realised and enjoyed by consumers and the residents.
With a total initial investment of EUR 70 million, including a substantial contribution from the EU’s cohesion fund, Szeged has achieved remarkable results. Carbon emissions have been slashed by over 60%, equivalent to more than 30,000 tons of CO2. This not only reduces Hungary’s reliance on fossil fuels but also enhances energy security and stabilises current and future consumer fuel costs. Plus, it paves the way for a cleaner, greener environment.
